@yole: Hey, @jkbbwr pointed out that I can use %1$1s to solve my problem earlier 🙂 The trick is the 1 that follows the dollar sign. Which means add a preceding space (I believe) but it doesn't actually add a whitespace when its 1 for whatever reason.
