Sadly, my love of checked exceptions has shriveled to a pit of grieving and woe. They act like an algebraic sum with the return type, which is actually pretty cool, with built-in pattern matching through try-catch. Buuut they don't play well at all with lambdas, given there's no way to peel off handlers for individual exception hierarchies into their own instances. 😞
