I’ve never liked the convention based aspect of Either (left is error but the compiler won’t enforce it). Scala has been mired in months of discussions about right biasing Either and these have gone nowhere. I’d rather say Either is a sum type for anything and have a specialized sum type that clearly indicates which one is failure and which one is success
