There's so much built on top of Java at this point in Android that it would be better for them to just make a new OS than to try to upend the entire ecosystem they have. Also, they just put a ton of work into getting onto the OpenJDK so that Oracle can't sue them anymore. I'm pretty sure they'd just put that work into whatever replacement language they want if they were going to show Java the door
