That's probably the case, yes. All googling leads to some Scala or Groovy forums that probably do the same - different kind of bytecode that Javaassist is not able to stomach.
But the thing is, I think Kotlin needs a dedicated solution for testing, not just wrappers around Hamcrest and Mockito
