So I have a naïve implementation of interceptable receive pipeline. Will benchmark it over weekend and push if not horribly slow. If you want to play with it it’s in receive-pipeline branch. See ApplicationRequestContentTest.testCustomTransform. Basically after setting up (not very friendly) interceptor, you can use call.request.receive<IntList>() to get a custom object only you know how to deserialise.
