I will just add that WebAssembly is perhaps a very young technology not widely used yet (but adopted by Google/Apple/Microsoft/Mozilla browsers + W3C standard), but it is pretty clear to me that this compilation target is the only way for Kotlin to really matter (as it matters for Android developers) for frontend development. So instead of just waiting adoption from others, why not making an educated guess here and take the limited risk to support it, like Juergen and me "took the risk" to push for Kotlin on Spring side when Kotlin was not visible in any Google trend graph “just” because this was/is the best technology available for that job 😉
