@konsoletyper: Personally I'd still use GWT over JS for large projects, but that doesn't mean I'll enjoy using it.
IntelliJ makes Java lot more bearable, the amount of code though is still many time more than its JS and Dart counterparts and Kotlin - that's probalby why Kotlin was built in the first place, to replace the bulkiness of Java
