@brianwernick thanks! It's a pity that there's no proper way to do that. Earlier I did that with custom classes derived from CheckBox and overriding setPressed, but nowadays this somehow removes a checkbox from being rendered in AppCompatCheckBox for some (yet) uninvestigated reason...
