I have similar reservations although the expression language in data binding is much more restricted, so hopefully, it shouldn't be too hard to add tool support for it. However, fundamentally, I think that mixing languages (Kotliin in XML or XML in Kotlin) is the wrong way to go. Anko has promise but they need to face two challenges: 1) offer as much as flexibility as the file layouts do with respect to orientations and 2) keep up with the XML attributes of the layout files.
