probably depends if you want to live in a java world or not. what I mean is, IDEA provides a conversion tool from java to kotlin and viceversa, kotlin feels quite familiar to java developers (at least in the basic syntax) so it is not the same burden as chosing scala for instance (then you can have issues to find scala devs) etc. I don't see many risks but was not never in the position to make this kind of decisions
