** is one of those operators I'd be happy to have, but I wouldn't benefit from it so much that I'd say I need it in the language. If we have lots of language features added that only serve a small share of users, then the language will quickly become bloated. One of my favorite Kotlin features is that it's easy to learn, unlike very feature-rich languages like Scala and C++.
