assuming the extra processing of stuff doesn't need to be included in the data that gets passed along when they click the button

but that is the case here 🙂 because that stuff is required during validation. So when button is clicked I need to look at all the latest values in all edit texts, and some of them can still be in 'debouncing' phase...
