Hmm, how should I convince you? Well, it's really to start a Spring Boot project. It features a lot of convention over configuration, but unlike Rails, it allows you to cleanly make deep changes if you want to. It comes with a Gradle plugin that makes it easy to build your application and manage Spring dependency versions. IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate has a built-in plugin for it (though that plugin's Kotlin support is still somewhat wonky).
