I wasn't making an argument for or against, just stating the logical continuation.
Personally I'm against raw types. I do like how explicit Kotlin requires you to be, but that is a personal preference. While I do see @kirillrakhman's point, I see this more as an issue of Google breaking the contract of findViewById, not a limitation of Kotlin.
