I don't think "you have to know what by is doing in the first place" is a valid argument. The same can be said about every other language feature. Yes, there is a set of "standard features" in most OOP languages than can be transferred when learning a new language, but if you would dismiss every language feature because you have to learn its syntax, we would still be coding in C.
