ANDROID SOFTWARE ENGINEER

The business has succeeded through innovation, efficiency and flexibility.
We’re looking for an experienced, proactive and enthusiastic Android software developer to join our R&D team in Southampton to help deliver the next generation of marine navigation products, working in an agile environment alongside other developers, UX designers, Product Owners and Project Managers as part of a globally distributed, multidisciplinary design team.
The role involves all phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial concepts and group consultation through to design, coding, testing, debugging and software release. You will participate in product design discussions including feature analysis, system trade-offs and UI design.
This is a hands-on role in an ambitious organisation that requires you to take responsibility for your own deliverables and to work closely with management and the rest of the Navico team to achieve a successful outcome. You will need to have excellent Android development experience with strong Java/Kotlin skills and an interest in working with Kotlin as a primary language.
WHAT YOU’RE GREAT AT
• Strong experience of developing well-implemented Android apps through the full software lifecycle in an agile environment
• Good understanding of the Android SDK
• Strong Java / Kotlin experience
• Design patterns such as MVVM or MVI
• Comfortable working in an Agile Development environment
• Familiarity with a DevOps environment, CI, unit & automated testing, TDD
• Experience of system debugging
• Able to manage own workload and deliver to plan with minimal supervision
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics or similar
