Yeah, for my first project I got $1500, it was three of us, so $4500 in total. After some time I became aware of the fact that there were two competing teams, one asked for $100 000 and another $300 000. The company which hired us made tens of millions with that software and it's still in use after 11 years.
That said I'm not too bitter about it, it was our first job and an open door into the industry. We were undergrads at that time.
