It’s still supported in the root dir but not for long. A couple of reasons:
1. Makes it easier to make IDEA autocomplete (adding source files in root might be problematic, not quite sure)
2. It will soon be possible to add arbitrary .kt files to support your build files
3. Doesn’t clutter your root dir
