I have the same thought as Cédric. 
Why do we need something similar to node.js, ruby or python dependency management?
What’s wrong with maven/gradle to organize project builds?
Actually, I thought that we talking about standalone scripts with dependencies and it has some nice use cases, but organize project like "composed of dozens of script files which work together to run the application” looks like step back for me. 
ProbabIy, I just don’t  understand what is the goal? I mean you can have exactly the same behaviour just using `./gradlew run` or something similar.
