What are the .172, .181, etc. files in the master ...

04/20/2018, 7:25 PMWhat are the .172, .181, etc. files in the master branch of the Kotlin git repo for? I assume they're for different versions of IDEA, but 1) how do you use them, 2) why aren't git branches used instead, and 3) git log is unhelpful about why they were introduced.
