I have been using them extensively in Spring Fu, configuration is done at https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-fu/blob/6ebc0349f897e6d431a2e8334eefda5e83838015/kofu/build.gradle.kts#L43-L54, and the resulting Kdoc has the samples included http://repo.spring.io/snapshot/org/springframework/fu/spring-boot-kofu/0.0.1.BUILD-SNAPSHOT/spring-boot-kofu-0.0.1.BUILD-SNAPSHOT-javadoc.jar!/kofu/org.springframework.boot.kofu/application.html, that part is fine.
