A little bit too late, but of all JDK distributions, the most friendly one is ZuluFX ( https://www.azul.com/downloads/zulu/zulufx/ ), because it bundles OpenJFX, so no there is no fuss during development.
The latest JBR11 is also JavaFX friendly, although it's available (well, I don't know how to download it otherwise) only as a part of IDEA distribution.
