Technically, it's no big deal to compile OpenJFX and stuff it into the OpenJDK of your choice. It's a little more work to do this across all platforms with each release. However, my consulting clients usually look for signals as to what will be supported over a long time horizon. For example, picking ReactJS because that's what Facebook uses rather than the quality of the view layer or the serialization to a Store.

Up to this point, Oracle provided that comfort level that the technology will have staying power and that new development will be supported far into the future.
