i'm not sure the best way to handle this either, but it is such a common case ... it does seem like the type of thing TornadoFX could provide some functionality for (i'm not smart enough to think of how). I feel like there have been a few just little things that i do over and over with GUIs that TornadoFX has given me a helper for and made life very easy. This seems right up there for me.
