I'm going to read the documentation again, but these are my thoughts:
• maybe I cannot use a single subset instance in a separate controller class
• I tried to create a copy of the object itself shown here, but I ran into the same issue 😞
• I saved the Hashmap originally to an object called colllection, so before I would reference scope.collection
