@g4sarma while importing a gradle project in IDEA always tick the "auto import" check box. That will help you to download the dependencies instantly. In your case, you can delete the ".idea" folder and any ".iml" file and try to open the gradle project again and don't forget to tick the "auto import" checkbox. If you are behind any corporate firewall, don't forget to set the proxy details as well.
