The reason it worked in the video is probably because it used the bindChildren function. That will automatically create UI elements corresponding to the list you pass it. What you could do here is either switch to bindChildren or add the new ui element manually. Since you want to sync the ui elements with the phone numbers in your list I suggest you use bindChildren.
