If you don't use the number pad, I would guess you could, but you'll be less productive for some time. If you work on a laptop a lot, it might not be a good idea to switch, because it messes with the mind to go back and forth. Carl is used to it, so he doesn't have a problem, but for us mere mortals it will take time to get used to switching layouts.
