It would be a win I think. I work with the "Data" division a lot at O'Reilly. They are pushing data science and machine learning right now, and Apache Spark encourages using Scala. But I think a lot of data science folks will find Kotlin easier to grasp, and maybe even help close the gap between data science and software engineering.
