Well, it mustn't happen on the UI thread when I think about it, but it would be bad to do a remoting call if you have a validation trigger onblur or onchange. If you change the trigger to none, you can do the whole model.commit() step off of the ui thread, and the ui should update to show any validation errors. Need to try that though.
