I feel like an untenured newb here. Been doing Java and nothing else since 2013, and learned JavaFX when Java 8 came out. I started learning Kotlin last year as I felt I exhausted Java to its limits already, even after reading Effective Java and Concurrency in Practice several times, and focusing heavily on reactive programming with RxJava. (Most of my open source initiatives integrate JavaFX and RxJava)
I really have no backend web experience. I wish I had need for it but I'm probably going to be focusing on Spark and ML as I form a data science/business tools stack.
