Haha yep, that was all me. I wasn't applying the Kotlin Gradle plugin. It was all working fine in IntelliJ, including running the unit tests, but then when I did ./gradlew clean build from the command-line, it just didn't pick up any of the .kt files because the plugin wasn't there
