Kapt itself, as far as its originally intended goal (supporting java AP in kotlin builds), is functionally complete and has been for some time. It gets maintenance updates insofar as it supports whatever KotlinCompile tasks support, but there's not much else to do than improve the build speed. Which, if you care enough about it, you'll either (mostly) remove kapt or migrate to KSP
