Hey Ian and Dale, Thanks for reading through and the feedback. I know next to nothing about network programming and as you can see I found a couple of HN threads, read through the comments and tried to summarise but doubtless got plenty wrong. The deck here https://speakerdeck.com/3rdeden/websuckets was probably the scariest but it is from 2013 and things have doubtless improved.
