this is probably the "magic" you are missing in getting the kotlin js and kotlin test js files copied over properly https://github.com/SalomonBrys/Kotlin-JS-Gradle-Utils/blob/master/src/main/kotlin/com/github/salomonbrys/gradle/kotlin/js/jstests/node/KotlinJsTestsNodePlugin.kt#L62 I assume that is why you tried inspecting the publish artifacts?
