i see. the reason it was moved to a subdirectory for Android was because they assumed people would be adding modules like 'wear' leading up to the I/O where wear was announced. so ultimately I think it depends on whether you expect modularization or not. For a single library project the added directory will be useless. For the start of a larger project it won't be.
