I'm introducing a Swift friend to Kotlin -- in Swift,

is always(?) explicitly required, so he's been using
this.
extremely often. It's unusual enough (and unnecessary enough) in the majority of cases that I want to make an argument for excluding it, but I can't come up with a "good" one, other than the fact that it's not required unless you need to be explicit. Are there code style guidelines for this, or even a better argument? Seems to be an intuitive thing that people just catch onto.
