I personally find that idea depressing and dehumanizing, and even if we mastered nonlinear algebra I still don't think it's possible. But I think many people, especially some scientists, think we are no different than a computer and therefore think we just need the right linear algebra operations to replicate reason and awareness (and not just simulate it).
