Honestly, I think it's more about the ecosystem, the documentation and the ease of use. We don't even need Kotlin Native for Kotlin to be successful in data science, we just need great projects designed with documentation in mind from day one. That, and probably commercial backing. TensorFlow is probably the most popular thanks to Google.
