I'm not asking these questions because I want the answers here in Slack where they'll get obliterated in probably about a month. I'm just pointing out that these are the kinds of things that ideally should be documented in the code. Any kind of contract guarantee that can't be expressed directly in the signature should be in a comment next to the signature.
