A modern programming language that makes developers happier.

I went though similar thoughts, perhaps using 2020 to learn a new language. But the more I think about it, I'm going to use 2015 and 2016 to learn new languages. Even if I have seen the problems before, there is an idiomatic way to write a solution in a new language. And for me, when learning, I like having a goal, and AoC problems are great for that. I'm considering Python (which I kind of know, but I'm not great) and TypeScript (because I'm 100% back end now and really should broaden out). Rust also looks fun but I'm not sure when I'd ever use it.
