5 - JavaFX is not only open source but being developed on github these days. Oracle is "handing it over to the community", i.e. de-funding it to a larger extent than before. So on one hand, that sucks, but on the other hand, it makes it easier to rally a community around it and argue that it's a truly open GUI toolkit. And JavaFX is mature enough that beyond bugfixes and keeping up with advances in display / GPU technology there isn't much that truly _needs_ to be done. It's all gravy.
