The point of the feature is to give users a way to implement these sorts of things themselves. Focus and skipping (for whole contexts BTW) are things that I need, so I was using them as a proof of concept for the extension point. I think that we should apply a standard set of transforms for these, but as you say, the point is to allow users to do things for themselves with code.
