When I use the new project wizard in AS canary (Only tried 9, have not tried 8 )

I see this is included:

buildToolsVersion "30.0.0"

I could have swore Tor said a while back that buildToolsVersion isn't needed anymore because AS will use the latest one needed by AGP (or something like that)?

If I'm migrating a current project to compose, do I need to include that line in my project that omits that?
