Teaching Android Development With Kotlin: The Stanford Approach
Save the date: March 11, 17:30 CET.
Rahul will cover these topics:
• Flipped classroom approach: assignment guides + basic language features are delivered via youtube videos that students watch outside of class time. Class time is reserved for deeper conceptual understanding and doing exercises together.
• “Low floor, high ceiling” approach, where students can do the bare minimum and still learn something, but there’s ample opportunity to extend assignments, that students can take as far as they want.
• Relating Kotlin to other programming languages that students have seen is really helpful to demonstrate the power and differences of other languages.
• Watching someone’s workflow helps to avoid time-wasters that may not be obvious when starting out in Android.
