It's logical from Microsoft's perspective. Just as they discontinued RoboVM post-acquisition to encourage the adoption of Xamarin, it appears they are now aiming for widespread adoption of .NET 6.

I suspect that the .NET 6 codebase might have originated as a Xamarin derivative, likely developed by the engineers they acquired. It was perhaps only a matter of time for this to happen.

I forgot about that, .net6 + Maui. They are moving into that direction, makes a lot of sense.

JetBrains Rider is eating their lunch. I heard that C# Dev Kit extensions are nowhere near ready for developers.

Stopping Visual Studio support on Mac will definitely help Rider since most of the cross-platform developers use Mac for Apple reasons, that's right. Now in terms of cross platform UI they have done a good job tbh.
They have fallen behind rn, flutter and compose in terms of modern UI coding style and latest trends but their binaries actually work probably better.
Another good one is Blazor, for wasm. Is probably number 1 in wasm land right now.
