Is there any information regarding what inspired the name “Amper”? Does it mean something? In my mind I immediately thought of Amber, but this isn’t the inspiration right?

Would you like the straight answer, or do you want to play a guessing game bit? 😉

I am up for a bit of game 😄 So far I got Amber on my mind, but nothing to relate it to. Then I liked this https://kotlinlang.slack.com/archives/C0922A726/p1699533861392409?thread_ts=1699525850.980899&cid=C0922A726 explanation as well, which even if it’s not the case I would like to pretend like it is 😄 Maybe someone else has something else in mind.

Yeah, we love this explanation, too 🙂 But both options are rather far away from the name's origin. To give you the first hint, the name's origin is similar to one of Kotlin.

I was looking for some Island 😄 Best I found on Google maps is https://maps.app.goo.gl/LywvH79ox1MFMEQb9 but doesn’t look like it 😄

The direction is right 👍 The second hint you can find on the page with JetBrains' locations.

You're doing great! It's much simpler, though 🙂 Let me think of the third hint... By the way, you can stop me at any point 🙂
Here's the third hint: below is the fridge in one of JetBrains's offices that we filled to celebrate the announcement.

Sooo, a Polish beer? I’ve never seen this one before 👀
Do they make it anywhere near your offices perhaps?

@Stylianos Gakis Indeed, they do make it near by our office.

By the way, Amper isn't named after a beer 😉

Oh I thought that was it, that we found it 😳
Well, then it must be what the beer was named after instead. Doesn’t help that whenever I google for Amper I get results for Ampere, the electic current unit 😂

Nice, so a River instead of an Island this time 😄 Is there also a proper way to pronounce this? I realized by now since no video was made I’ve never heard of anyone say it out loud 😄
