i wonder if renaming this channel to kotlin-android or something would result in fewer not kotlin but kotlin colored stamps

At this point, I'm not even sure who is the troller. The asker or the not kotlin but kotlin colored responder(s).

Why? This whole workspace is about Kotlin. 😅 this discussion was raised a couple of times and many disagreed. You can search in #meta.

I think it would result in fewer offtopic posts, but there would still be folks expecting their question is valid simply because they're using Kotlin instead of Java (as opposed to it being an Android problem unique to Kotlin itself).

Maybe closing this channel directly? Android seems to be a common target OS for a variety of Kotlin topics, so most of the questions could have a home elsewhere. I don't see stuff "pure Android + Kotlin" that may need a separate channel

There are more valid Kotlin + Android questions than for most of the channels in this community It's still a huge topic and some questions just do not fit to any other channel, the fact that many don't understand it, doesn't make it useless. Instead of questions here, we will get a million questions "where is Android channel"

Anyway, the debate is opened and there are reasons for it, if you check the last messages you can see that most of them are non-kotlin related questions, so I still think that there is a huge missunderstanding with it, and the title confuses the people.

That's precisely what I tried to say: for some time, almost all questions here were tagged not kotlin but kotlin colored . Perhaps people find other channels more suitable for their Kotlin on Android questions
... and what is left here are all not K questions

> Perhaps people find other channels more suitable for their Kotlin on Android questions But there are no such channels in this Slack except #random All channels are about Kotlin I don't see how the removal of the channel makes good for anyone. I agree it's the highest noise ratio among all the channels, but closing it will not make anything good, there are thousands and thousands of threads in this channel, some active.
I don't see stuff "pure Android + Kotlin" that may need a separate channel
Many thousands of questions like this are discussed in this channel for years, from very first days of Kotlin Slack activity

good point, I'm quite new here, that's something I didn't know. I can speak only for the posts I've seen in the last few months
