in fact, no. this is not a replacement nor substyle of tabs. this is another and very useful way to create better ux in terms of modernity. the thing is, in my opinion, it is used in order to select between different options, such as toggling between reader mode and a web mode in a news app or a quick filters panel in an e-commerce app, etc.
